Here at The Buttonhole we love all things fabric, delivery day is the best day of the week. Bet you love that feeling too? There really isn't anything nicer than the smell and feel of fresh fabric.
We hand pick all our fabrics, no job lots here. We get fabrics from all over the world. Some are woven in one place and printed in another, some are all done in one country and then shipped to our wholesaler and we choose them when we see our reps.
We also pick our haberdashery stock carefully too. Liz loves the button isle in our closest one. They just seem to call to her and before you know it she has a brand new crop for you to choose from.
Yarn is another firm favourite. Bex crochets and Liz knits. Between us we have used many different brands and we also know what you like too. We love when new colours for the season are released, the possibilities are endless.
We have recently started to design our own range of kits. Sewing, cross stitch and t-shirts.
Due to Covid 19 we are not currently fully open. We are making appointments so people can collect their alterations, and we are also doing a click and collect service.
My love of sewing and fabrics started early on in my life. My Mum sewed for us. All kind of things. I started to sew at the age of 11. I loved it. I made myself so many things in my teens and worked with so many different fabrics. I continued to sew for myself and then my children as each came along. In the early 90s I made wedding and bridesmaids dresses and this opened up a new range of fabrics that I hadn't worked with before. Fast forward to 2011 when The Buttonhole came up for sale. I knew I wanted to buy it and be able to make a one stop shop for everything a sewist would want. So here we are, I adore getting new fabrics and the ideas of what people might make from them. So if you need any advice or can't quiet find what you are looking for, just message me and I'll see what I can do.
